Can anyone explain why, 24d Drink half or quarter of cherry brandy, is KIR, please? Chambers gives KIRCHWASSER as liqueur made from wild cherries and has no entry for KIR itself. Thanks.

Kir is a drink made of dry white wine and cassis according to Oxford dictionaries on line.

Yes, I'd found that as well, but it doesn't explain the wordplay, does it? Thanks for the post, anyway.
