I have just built a conservatory and want to put a light in it but put a 2 gang switch inside the lounge where there is an existing 1 gang switch. How do i do it.

I think if you are in the uk, you have to have a qualified electrician to do any electrical work. New law I believe.

No it isn't - this is forever being put about.

The new Part P restrictions only cover certain areas mostly where you'd expect to get water  - Kitchen, bathrooms, outside etc.

Even then you can do the work yourself but it'd have to be signed off by building control (so it'd only be cost effective in the biggest jobs) 

You just need to make a larger cavity in the wall for a double size wall box and fit a dual socket.

All the same - as with most electrical jobs, if you're asking on this forum are you sure you want to do it yourself?

Sorry just noticed you'd titled this lighting. I thought you were talking about ring main sockets.
