Norton disabled by virus

The 60 day trial version of Norton Internet Security that came with my netbook has stopped working two days in. I got a warning message about a virus and disconnected as soon as i could but Norton stopped working. I loaded AVG and found nothing on a scan and also ran a Spyware scan for insurance.

So, while there is no identifiable virus Norton is unusable - I can't even get into the user interface.

As it came with the pc theres nothing to reload. Should I just uninstall Norton and write it off to experience or is there a way of re-instating Norton?

Well unless you are planning on buying it you'd have to wipe it off in 58 days anyhow, so may as well do it now.

Comodo or Microsoft security essentials are about the best free ones about at the moment.

(oh and if anyone posts on here that norton is crap, they are out of touch, it was about a year or so ago, it's not any more)
I hate Norton, if it`s not wanting to update every 5 mins it`s telling you your license isn`t up to date. I got shot and went with McAfee
Mind reader as well Chuckfickens LOL
Happens every time anyone mentions Norton on here :)

It certainly used to be crap and a huge resource hog but they realised that they were losing their core customers because of it and got their act together for the last release.

Oh, and your anti-virus should be updating at least once a day, if it's not then get worried, it shouldn't be pestering you or telling you about the updates though.
