Hi
Unbeknown to anyone our silver surfer uncle has bought a 2nd hand laptop and signed up to broadband.
It isn`t too slow and the h/d is probably sufficient for his needs for now, but we don`t want to leave the country, disconnect the phone, assume false identities etc to avoid the constant phone calls "How do you" you know the rest.
Is there a website for beginners that takes them through the basics so they don`t have to contact us all the time.
TIA
He has gone to 2 free 1 hour sessions at the local library and comes away with the attitude that it should be a 1 on 1 session not a class of about 30, he thinks his questions are more important than the others and the tutors don`t spend enough time with him.
That is why we are getting the "How do you" calls
Is there a basics website out there?
Sorry Karen
Must have been writing post when you answered
he has been there done that and felt that the classes were too large for individual attention.
Hi ClaireBare
He is a widower, his wife for 38 years passed away last February it is now he is feeling lonely and wants contact with the outside world.
Don`t worry we are keeping an eye on him so he doesn`t get drawn in to scams etc but we can only do what we can.
there is a good book called ( computing for idiots) simple to understand from Smiths
or why not get him to sign up for a computer course there is one being advertised on tv at the moment or there is usually a night school that does them for free if your a pensioner. hope this helps.
