Whenever I use baby oil on my skin more than 2 or 3 days in a row,my lower legs-right against the bone-become very itchy. It doesn't happen anywhere else on my body. Is there any particular ingredient in baby oil that can cause rashes?

dont use it then :-)
Especially on your lower leg right against the bone.
I don't think it's baby oil pasta, my lower legs. around my ankles my skin is really dry and itchy and I use Shea Butter. I don't use it all the time.
Aqueuous cream is really good for dry and particularly itchy skin.
The lower leg is prone to itchiness and dry skin in a number of conditions -are you diabetic by any chance? I have very dry skin (thanks mum), and I used baby oil in the bath, but plenty of olive body butter all the rest of the time.

I usually use either cocoa butter,or a coconut oil butter...no problems with either. It's just baby oil-no itchiness without it...
I have a very dry skin (a million years in Africa without proper sun protection) but find as long as I make it regular - virtually whatever I use helps my skin - at the moment I'm on baby creme, acqueas (sp) creme and olive oil - seems to works wonders.
aqueous cream brilliant and cheap
4getmenot - aqueous cream has just had a big no no for making dry skin worse - appreciate if it works for you - no probs or for me - I use it and have had no problems but a 'new research' has deemed the ingredients make dry skin worse. Do they want to come and test it on me - I'd be happy for that - it's brilliant. - .

Aqueous cream is brilliant...it helped me survive bad eczema a few years ago. Why is it that new research will seem to dispute all the experiences so many have of it being soothing for dry and other skin conditions....
just goes to prove ' they' are wrong - pastafreak and carmalee endorse aqueous creme.
Perhaps the baby oil is too scented. It may only affect that area due to shaving or something. x
Google <Fucidin H cream>
If there's heat on the oiled skin you will fry, too much heat & skin will burn causing itching. Use lanolin cream instead of oil.
When I used to do herbal presentations and massages I used to steer people away from baby oil. Everyone is different and very many people love baby oil but it is like liquid vaseline and just sits on the skin instead of being properly absorbed. In fact it is good as a carrier oil for massage is you want to do a lengthy massage because of the way it sits on the surface of the skin and stays workable for a long time.
Better for moisturising is olive oil, almond oil (wonderfully absorbing) or cocoa butter.
It is not new about aqueous cream being not such a good choice for sufferers of skin conditions as it contains detergent which can aggravate and not help the condition.
It is cheap but I found it had mixed results on my dry skin so ditched it.
You just have to keep trying moisturisers until you find one you, and your skin, like.

Incidentally, because most of us are showering for the most part these days, one of the greatest ways of helping the skin hydrate, a good bath product, is forgotten. Finish off such a bath with a favourite moisturiser and see the difference.
pasta exfoliate your lower legs with Simple Exfoliating Body Wash and then moisturise with Simple moisturiser, it's non-perfumed.
Be wary of lanolin - it can aggravate eczema.
