Why is their a issue, any publicity is good publicity for the forces
They are not on sale yet so the cheapskates have put last years back on.
That's what we thought, everyone on BBC was wearing them from this weekend. We've seen no Poppies in the shops as yet. Three weeks to go until Nov 14, which is on a Sunday this year. Big Remembrance Service planned here in Dover.

The way they do it is all false, they should let people wear them when they want and not just because they are on camera
Sue Cornwell, who co-ordinates poppy sales for the Amersham branch of the charity, thinks the early publicity is distracting. "There is a strict date when you can buy a poppy and make your donation, and it has to be from 30 October. There is only a two-week open period when we can collect starting then, because we're a charity.
I bought mine 3 days ago!!
Yes they are in the co- op,take it up with them..
Charity collectors were taken aback when they tuned in to the BBC given that strict rules limit the period during which they are allowed to sell the poppies.
And the spar...
When I was young you only wore them on Poppy Day - Nov 11th.
November 14th is Prince Charles Birthday, is that remembrance sunday this year? The 11th is a Thursday
Does this mean more parades and covering yourself with medals?

Think I'll try and get away for a week!
Remembrance Sunday is the nearest Sunday to 11th, so this year is 14th.
I'm always happy to wear my poppy with pride. My Grandad died in his early 20s, went missing in his plane and has no known grave. As always, I will be at Runneymede to pay my respects.
Ah, the good old BBC. There was a similar debate last year and this is the poppy etiquette page on the BBC website from 2009...

"When to start wearing one?
It's a hotly debated question... The Royal British Legion spokesman says they can be worn from the launch of the poppy appeal, which this year [2009] was 22 October. Organisations like the BBC usually choose a day for presenters to start wearing one. This year it was from 6am on 24 October."

So why the sudden breach of etiquette since the national launch of the 2010 Poppy Appeal will take place on Thursday 28 October?...

I have seen people wearing them in town already. I never really understood why we only wear them for one week of the year. I guess if it's only a short while then people will take more notice?

Either way I shall purchase one when I get the chance and wear it with pride until the day.
They're all wearing poppies on the Rhod Gilbert show now - it looks like a uniform. I'll all in favour of buying poppies but it looks like it's mandatory at the BBC at the moment.
