Washing clothes with deoderant

Sometimes when I wash my husbands football gear it comes out of the washing machine and I can still smell his odour and the stale deoderant. I'm guessing that the deoderant is so good that is just sticking really well to his clothes. I wash at high temperature but it's still there! Is there anything else I can do to get rid of it?
Thank you!

Use Shout or Vanish first?!
Perhaps washing at high temperature "sets" the deodorant; try lower temps with Ariel Gel (there's one that contains Febreze).
I don't know about the deodorant, but the body odour smell can be removed by soaking the tops in a water and white vinegar solution overnight. I did this with jumpers and it completely removes the smell!

Thanks guys! will give them a try!
put a capfull or two of disinfectant in with your wash
I had this problem and used vinegar instead of softner and it really worked! Doesn't make the clothes smell at all of vinegar and they actually come out really soft! Any kind of vinegar is ok.
