I was at the gym yesterday with my PT (personal trainer....). A lovely blind lady was in there, apparently a regular, and a big fundraiser locally. Her sense of hearing is heightened & more acute because of lacking in sight, & she was obviously listening to myself (puffing, panting, muttering) & my PT throughout the session. As she left the room she shouted to us "I've been listening to you - both of you very well done, I'm proud of you).

With my back to her, and without thinking at all, I shouted back "Maybe, but you can't see me sweating..........."

OMG. Hole. Ground. Swallow. Me. Up. Graciously she laughed. The PT looked horrified.

actually, your response was perfect - exactly what I would have said if I'd thought of it. I can't see why she would be offended unless she's been pretending not to be blind and annoyed that you'd blown her cover. And clearly she wasn't offended.
at least she saw the funny side
i remember telling a paralised girl who came into my local "be careful what you drink you dont want to get legless" oh dear !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh dear:-) We have a blind lady here at work and you would not believe how many times one of us says things such as "did you see such and such on telly last night?" or " who's that bloke that just walked through the door?" Open mouth-insert foot.
