One of the few things that might survive there is Ceanothus. Even that may succumb tho.
Evergreen 'and' a north wall are no-go usually
Failing that, try a Hydrangea Petiolaris .. Not out of leaf for too long!
: )
Virginnia creeper isn't evergreen & leaves turn from green to red before they drop in winter (depending on weather).

Thanks for replies.Had no problem with the ivy that I but it grew so thick,,should have given it a trim every year,I suppose.
Having now removed it,there is a great possibility it will grow back..did a few years back when it was removed ..but thought I would like something with flowers.Course would have kill off the ivy roots first.
Have got Ceanothus in the garden which is also facing North plus on a windy corner..has grown huge.
On reading about Hydrangea Petiolaris ,seems that it would be OK on the wall,so will probably try it.

Thank You
There are two Ceanothus tho.
Prostrate and climbing.
