I had a bit of a clear out earlier and I found some old newspapers which I'd kept as momento's. They were of Diana's funeral, The eclipse of the sun and 9/11. What do you think I should do with them? Throw them out, keep them or see if someone would like them? Don't know if anyone would want them but no harm in asking. Think I might keep the one of the eclipse though, the pics are amazing and don't know if there will be another one here in my lifetime!

How old are you. If your quite young then they may be worth a few quid by the time you're 70. If your knocking on, give em to the kids.
Recycle them.
put important things like that in an album. and show them to your children when they are older

39 Count. Thats a good idea Anne.
Question Author
I have thought about recycling them Mark but I would prefer to put them to them to another use.
oh keep them tigger!

just think in years and years to come, theyd be a nice find for someone.

earlier this year, a year a friend of mine had done a few house alterations, and before boarding up an alcove where a wall cabinet was fixed, he left a few momentos still on the cabinet shelf, like a current newspaper etc etc.

so, years down the line, new owners of the house just might decide to knock that wall fixture down again, and will discover the bits and pieces relating back to the year 2010 :o)
keep them put them in a scrap book then let a local school have them to use for topics
Question Author
Good idea Loooby, might stick them in an airtight bag and leave them up in the loft.
things like that always do well on ebay
Question Author
Another good idea Usathome.
Question Author
Ebay! Do you think I could get a good price for them?
newspapers will yellow and crumble even if you put them in airtight storage because of the quality of the paper used to make them
i have 6 ---8 newspapers in my underwear drawer, and would never think of throwing them away. I threw a couple of them away a few years ago and have regretted it ever since
Question Author
When my parents bought their house 30 years ago they found loads of pre-wartime and wartime newspapers under the carpet. Sadly the threw them away and I was too young to realise there worth at the time.
aw thats a shame your parents chucked them tigger ..

my mum and dad still have a newspaper from the year they got married in 1965. its a bit off colour now, but its still in good nick.

i think its a lovely idea to keep them ...
Question Author
Yep, I think I will keep them. I'm sure an airtight bag will be fine. If newspapers can keep from wartime then these ones should keep fine.

Thanks everyone x
Keep them! Have you got kids? I'm sure they'll appreciate them in the future. If not, someone will - don't throw them away.
Mine are only 13 and 11 and we all love looking back at the newspapers that were published on the days they were born, as well as papers from memorable days like you've said.
Question Author
Hi Halifaxmum, my little boy is still a baby but I'll give them to him when he gets older and tell him that these events made history. x
