Hi. If you have a Sky subscription, do you still need a TV Licence?

Tv licence is to pay for BBC, thats the whole point u pay for it. Therefore if u have a television it is deemed capable of receiving BBC channels and therefore liable to pay a licence. Only reduction is if u are a pensioner (reduced/free) or a Black and White telly.

I also think that if you get Sky, then they are required by law (as is anyone who sells you a telly) to inform the TV Licence folks so that they can chase you for money.

What made you think that you wouldn't need a licence?

Everyone operating a TV has to pay for a licence to receive television signals. A licence to receive radio signals was dropped a few years ago and the present combination licence was introduced. A popular misconception is that all the money is paid over to the BBC. This is not entirely true although they do receive a certain amount. A large portion of the revenue collected is used to provide and maintain the nationwide transmission system used and for the monitoring and detection of radio interference etc.
