Going Bust: How To Ruin Your Business

Review: Going Bust: How To Ruin Your Business By Neil Boom (Illustrations by Jon Chandlers)
There are plenty of business books out there, hundreds of thousands in fact. Most of them remind you to "think outside the box" and "Keep It Simple Stupid" - and most of them are terribly dull.
Most importantly, even after you've digested all the nonsense, jargon, and general management and business fluff you'll still be left with the very real prospect of taking your great idea (and savings) and watching it circle the drain in ever decreasing circles.
And sometimes it takes longer that we'd like to see our dreams crushed so we may return to "normal life".
That's where Going Bust: How To Ruin Your Business Steps in.
The book takes a light, humorous look at the world of business and advises you to stay well away. In the format of an acrostic of the alphabet we find that "A is for Ambition" suggesting that "When running a failing business, the last thing you need are ambitious employees." While "N is for Nepotism" which advises that when hiring you look no further than second cousins.
We all know that there is some truth in humour, and it becomes apparent here. For anyone who has had to live and work with the "professional" language of the modern office, let alone tried to run their own business, there is a great deal of sniggering to be had.
For aspiring Dragon's Den contestants and Apprentice applicants or anyone who has had to deal with infuriating "on-message" management new-speak this may be the perfect stocking filler!
