Change to contract - working days
My husband works in a restaurant, as a supervisor, and has had the same contract and pattern of work for 24 years. He works week 1 Mon - Fri 9.30am - 6.30pm week 2 Mon - Sat 6.30pm - 2.00am (or when last customer goes!). This has been his rota for 24 years. appro 5 years ago the restaurant opened Sat lunchtimes but due to the rota my husband has, he was not included in this changed. However the owner now wants to open for Sunday lunches. A meeting was held last week where staff were informed of this and at the meeting a form was given out for staff to write down their comments and views on this change. Staff that have given in their forms saying that they would not want to work on Sundays have verbally been told 'hard luck'. No timeframe has been given although staff have been told another meeting will be held - but no date has been given. Managers are producing staff rotas at the moment for Sunday opening. Can my husband be forced to work on a Sunday?

It seems to be saying that to enforce Sunday working, his contract will have to be changed.I've worked Sundays in catering and retail most of my life and am now not doing them. I understand why he doesn't want to but he's lucky to have not done it for so long in catering.Hope he sorts something out.
