It was windy today and I saw a council worker using a blower to blow leaves out of the gutter. As fast as he blew them out the wind blew them back in. What other pointless jobs can you think of?

That reminds me, NazNomad, that I used to have a road map of the UK (published by the AA) which, alongside the Suffolk coast, was annotated with the words "Due to open soon: Lowestoft eastern bypass".

Given that Lowestoft is the most easterly town in the country, I remember thinking that the proposed bypass might experience a few problems with flooding!
