How could I tell if I have dyspraxia? Could I ask my tutors at college for a test or would I have to go to my doctor? I have been looking it up on the internet and I have quite a few of the symptoms, like clumsiness, bad hand-eye co-ordination and really bad handwriting.

How long have you had those symptons.

Dyspraxia - albeit a newish type ailment although it probably has been just been given a title - would I suspect have been picked up pre school by the Health Visitor.

I would absolutely strongly recommend you go to your Doctor. It may a simple thing like Vertigo or Labrythititis (sp) but he or she is the person to match the symptons together not a layman.

Let me know how you get on.LOL

Never been any good at hand-eye co-ordination, very cautious as a young child, I remember being told by my mum that when the health visitor tried to get me to do the test where you jump down 3 stairs I wouldn't do it. Always been really cautious when crossing roads too, it annoys people who try to cross with me! My handwriting has been bad ever since I first started writing too, I've had so many comments from teachers that I've mis-spelled something when really I've just written an a that looks like an o! Oh well. Will definitely talk to college tutor when I go back to college to see what they say, talk to my mum and see if I can see a doctor about it.

How old are you?

You may show some of the symptoms, but it doesn't mean you have it.  Generally the symptoms are obvious at a young age and is treatable (my niece has had this) through various forms of therapy (and I don't mean sitting on a couch).  It may just be that you can't catch, or that you are clumsey (my gf is always breaking things) or simply that your handwriting is just not as neat as someone elses (you should see mine!).  If you really really are concerned and it is affecting your day to day life, then visit your GP if only for some reassurance or basic tests.

Hey -its obviously bothering you so go see your GP.This is not unsurmountable and given the correct guidance and help you will see a vast improvement in the way you deal with things which are bothering you at the moment.

Life is far too short to spend it worrying  -it could be worse -  you could be me cos I have the whole weight of the world on my shoulders!!!-LOL.Now do what you are told and let us know please how you are doing.

I'm 17. I know it might just be clumsiness and bad hand-eye co-ordination generally but I'd like to be checked out anyway. I might see if I can find out through college as I don't really want to waste a doctor's time, it's so hard to get an appointment anyway.
