Vintage Watch Inscription
I have recently inherited a silver officers watch with an inscription on the back saying
"Rev.H.Ingham from Bowen Bombay 1919"
Can anyone advise on how i can track down who this is?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.At first glance, 'Bowen Bombay' would appear to refer to the prominent missionary George Bowen. However he died on the 5th of February, 1888:

So it seems likely that the watch was a gift from an organisation named in his honour. A likely candidate is the Bowen Memorial Methodist Church in Bombay (now Mumbai):

So it's possible that Rev H Ingham was a long-serving (or retiring) minister of the church, who received the watch in recognition of his service.
The present church minister, Rev W G Kunder, probably has access to the church's records, which will be able to confirm or disprove my theory. Perhaps you could write to him? Contact details are here:
