Title deeds ?

Does anyone know what happens to the title deeds of a house once its been demolished ?

The title deeds will show ownership of the land that the house stood on so you should keep them.

Sorry I should have expanded.....the deeds should detail the what rights and/or restrictions there are for the land so that is why it is useful to keep them.

It would be more accurate to say that the land title is in respect of the plot of land, not the house. The presence of the house on the land (or not) is merely incidental.

Thanks buildersmate. Apparently, we since found out that the house which was left to my mother in law by her grandad in his will in 1927 to be held in trust until she was 21, and she was only 11 at the time, but it did not pass over to her until 1941 and was classed as condemned. Perhaps, something happened to it during the war years, but why would it take so long to pass over to her ? and how can we find out where the deeds are now ? She is now nearly 95 and cannot remember anything to help us.
