Don't think it's Clerks. I'll guess at 'All the Presidents Men'. Or on the same theme it could be 'Nixon'. I seem to remember somone saying that kind of thing about Watergate incident although I could be wrong.

I can't believe I know this... It's from the Paul McCartney film 'Give My Regards To Broad Street'. IIRC the line is spoken by Bryan Brown. The exact quote is: "Gentlemen - I thought you'd like to be the first people to know - he got the tapes." It also appears on the soundtrack album.
