My son had a quote from an insurance company and when he tried to purchase it they said they had made a mistake and wouldn't honour the quote. They have listened to the recording of the conversation and admitted it was their mistake but still won't honour the quote. Is there any way they can be made to honour it?

you can take the argument to the chief executive of either the insurance company or the group that the insurance company belong to and they'll look at it.
i had similar problems when i notified direct line that my car was modified, only not to put it on my policy, and tried to make me pay all the differences and extra excess fees when someone hit me and drove off. they honoured it eventually as i wasn't giving up and i'd actually told them i was going to head office to have it out with them, its their mistake, not yours....
