I have been sending out CVs for the past month but only two interviews. I'm looking for an admin job. Anyone out there just got hired??? How long did it take you????
my sister was made redundant in april (i think it was) and after many false starts and a few interviews she got a new job which she started 3 weeks ago.
mikey, that's no time at all, sorry to say. You have done well to get two interviews in that time. My employer - NHS - is cutting back so hard that we are hardly recruiting at all at the moment, suspect it may be the same in other public sector organisations.
I would suggest you join an agency. My daughter was in the same situation as yours and was contacted far more often through agencies rather than direct employers And yes 2 interviews in a month is not bad going at the moment. Good luck
i've been unemployed for 3 months with no interviews. i've been sending out my CV and applying but to no avail.
i'm getting to the point where i can't be arsed to work
february redcrx, took me 7 months, was in admin, got made redundant. Got a job about 3 weeks after but was for head housekeeper and hours were ridiculous. then about 6 months later got a job in admin, but the manager got cancer so withdrew the offer. Now I have another admin job about 5 mins walk from me so all worked out in the end. That was my 8th interview
I'm on a temp contract so I am looking atm - just applied for one today - its taken me all this week to do a CV, supporting letter and the app form, so fingers crossed!
When I was made redundant it took me 11 months to find a job....I applied for over 400 jobs....and I was a manager....I applied for everything but out of 400 jobs I only got 5 interviews......good luck!
I applied for a job sometime in August and never had a reply. A couple of weeks ago, I got a call on the Wednesday or Thursday to attend an interview the following Monday. I went to the interview at 11.15 and received a call in the late afternoon offering me the job. There were approximately 100 applicants, whittled down to 12 interviewees, 2 of whom DNA.
The post is an NHS one and I should start within the next couple of weeks. I applied for about a dozen posts across various depts of the NHS and got 2 interviews, but cancelled the other after I was offered the post I referred to above.
I will be working as an Assistant Med Sec in T&O. It's the first time in years I've had to consider working a 9-5, but strangely, I'm really looking forward to it. I'm chuffed to bits that I beat off all the other applicants (including the internal ones) and just hope that I can continue doing some PR and Interior Design as forms of supplementary income until the Economy becomes more stable.
I'm definitely considering a career in writing (Food/Restaurant Critic) in the not-too-distant future.
count yourself lucky to get an interview ! After about 20 months I still haven't even got an interview , even in a specialist field. It probably depends on what area of the country you come from - I'm in Hastings where the job market is particularly poor.
