are 25ft long, making her a U.S. womans shoe size 879 ! I've just discovered that fact and I thought I'd share it with you.

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.In case anyone is interested, and less friviously, I have also learnt that the sculptor - Bartholdi's original intention was to show her, (her actual title is 'Liberty Enlightening the World') with the broken chains of slavery at her feet, but in deference to the feelings of the defeated South, and in recognition of the need for Americans to move forward from the shadow of slavery, the sculptor was asked to conceal most of the chains under the hem of her dress which he did, but alongside her right foot you can see several links of chain.
