Under the new law when will be the police caution spent?

I have a police caution in 2008 for "shoplifting". Police has taken my picture,finger prints & signature in a paper. It was a very simple caution. Now I will apply for british citizenship. Is this will affect my application? Shall I declare it or not? If anyone know about this please let me know. Thanks
