Oxford Hotels
Can anyone recommend a hotel in or around Oxford city centre? Even though I live in Oxfordshire I've never actually stayed in a hotel here. Looking to spend not much over £80 and I don't want anything like Prem Inn or Travelodge. Something half decent, if that's possible with that budget.

Switching to 'B&Bs/Inns' doesn't bring the prices down that much either! However these aren't too far from the city centre, and might be worth considering:

close friends in the city and also nearby - and lived in steventon for 6 months...when visiting we used to use the Feathers in Woodstock but that has changed hands and gone southwards apparently. It was a long story but the first time on a move out of the Aldermaston area overseas, we had booked into the main suite at the Bear. We turned up there (at 6.30pm)to find that they had released it to others - the GM was totally apologetic and showed us to "this wonderful suite in the Cottage." She opened the door and it obviously already had occupants who had enjoyed some teatime activities by the lingerie and sex toys on the floor...... Within 5 mins, she had us into a suite at the Feathers and arranged to settle on the price difference which was then about 180 pounds. A nice touch was that she sent across a bottle of vintage Moet to us as an additional apology. However, we settled on the Feathers when we came back from overseas to the Oxford area........
