12 Answers
my mums bedroom ceiling has about a 30 inch crack in it and either side of the crack it is sagging, this was caused by a water leak, i was just wondering if it is possible to repair it or is it a case of just getting the whole ceiling replaced. The ceiling has a slight patterned artex on it.

Sagging is where it's become detached from the ceiling joists. As Postie says, cut out this part ............ keep cutting until you get back to an edge that is still securely attached. Replace with new plasterboard, and re-finish with plaster.
The important thing is to not bother filling the crack. It'll keep coming back, and eventually end up on the floor.

We had exactly the same thing, a nice man came and fixed it for us and plastered it back in so you can't see where the damage was...he had to chop out quite a bit more than was visible from the outside to get back to firm, attached plasterboard...quite a big hole...cost 70 quid which i thought was money well spent.
