I have been lent a notebook while my own laptop is being repaired, I in plugged in my
printer via usb and it was found and installed, next I plugged in my scanner a
canoscan 25 lide and a messsage was displayed saying "searching for drivers" which it found and installed along with canoscan toolbox a little desktop program that allows
me to either copy documents, email, copy photos etc. however when I click on copy
a box is displayed saying select canoscan lide 25 then another message "unable to select twain source" what does that mean? and how do I rectify it?

The twain source is the scanner, sounds like you need to look around in the options for the program and select the correct scanner as the source, it's normally on the file menu under select source, but I can't be 100% sure as I don't know that software.
