Christmas sweetie recipes for kids
9 Answers
My autistic step son is really into cooking these days. He has also just got into making shapes from card and paper. So I thought that making some sweets to put in boxes he has made would be an ideal Christmas present for him to make. He really LOVES giving. Can anyone suggest some good sweet recipes, please. I'd prefer to avoid anything that involves boiling sugar since I see that as a recipe for serious burns (given his various difficulties). I was just thinking a couple or three simple sweet type recipes which he can make (with my close supervision) and I know he would really enjoy making them and then making the boxes for them to go in. Anything appreciated. TIA. BM x

hi BM, coconut ice is ideal - no cooking, you just let it set - it is very sweet but I loved it when I was a kid. You can use different food colourings and he could cut out various shapes or letters for personalised gifts.

toffee mallow crunch might be a good one for him to make, it's all done in the microwave, using soft toffees, marshmallows, butter and rice crispies, and the mixture doesn't get really hot, just warm enough to melt it all. it can be cut up into small squares and put into cake cases to put into his boxes. if you're interested i'll post the recipe.
