I understand it is excellent for mild and straightforward issues such as slight short-sightedness.
However, the greater the underlying problem, the less effective it is. Check the thickness of your specs as a rule of thumb.

I`ve worked with many colleagues who have had laser surgery. I`ve never met one who has regretted it. The last one I talked to was -9 short sighted which is quite severe. I think there can be some short term problems with halo vision around lights when driving at night.

No, but I know someone who did; the benefits lasted her about three months and then her sight deteriorated , leaving her worse than originally. She wishes she had never had it done.
Personally, I wouldn't consider it even if THEY paid ME.

I had it done about 8 years ago, bloody excellent :o)

which doesn't necessarily mean it would be for you!

My son had it done ... it took one trip for assesment, (around 2 hours)... and the next trip for the treatment ... less than 3/4 hr. to do both eyes.
He was spendind around £60 a month on contacts, and getting really frustrated with the irritation they were causing.

I had LASEK about 3 years ago. You can't pick the procedure you need. Hated it at the time as it was sooo painful afterwards for about 1 week and took my sight about 2 weeks to be anything near normal. Eyes were really blurry on and off and I of course was getting worried at that stage. I am glad both eyes were done at once as I wouldn't have gone back to get the other done!

However, now I am really glad I had it done, i have completely forgotten what it was like wearing lenses or glasses! I do -on occasions- get sore eyes and sometimes wake up during the night and they feel bit painful...even now. They are certainly more sensitve than they were before, chopping up onions is impossible now.

I suppose its like any op really, never quite the same as it was before but for me the pros definately out way the cons!

My eyes were -3.5, cost £2300 (including wavelength procedure). Its NEVER the cost you see on the adverts on telly!
