Hi All
I know that we ( or at least I do !!) moan about the cost of parking at Hospitals, but I think I have witnessed the dearest car park charges today - WESTFIELD Shopping Centre at White City - £2.50 per hour or part thereof. Unfortunately the missus and I went into the 3rd hour today by 20 minutes and it cost us £7.50. I know they have to pay for the place but this is extortion. Any comments - for or against !

Happy Parking to all my readers !!
Many thanks for all the comments. I live near Heathrow and to get to Westfield by Public Transport would take forever - can't really complain then can I ? Hey ho...............

However if one does any sort of shopping, gettong on public transport is a mare or do they expect you to buy one item and leave, I take it that Waitrose only opened to sell sandwiches. :-)

As for driving in London I do the rush hour every day, there are good days and bad days. Compared to the cost of public transport I would take the car everytime.
Was at Westfield yesterday and parked for 3 hours free of charge. Mind you ma-in-law was with us with her blue badge.
The way the car park works at Westfield is brilliant though. With the light system they have to show where there are spaces it makes it so much easier to park quickly. Also, take a look at the kind of shops that are in Westfield. Most of them are high end brands which means there will be big spenders going there and 7 or 8 quid to park will be nothing compared to the money they spend inside the centre - not for the likes of me though. :o)
That doesn't sound unusual. I paid £2.90 for less than an hour in a hospital car park last week - and that wasn't in London.

Hopkirk, despite the parking charges I always take my car to London simply for the convenience. So nice to come out of the theatre and get in my car rather than do all the taxi and railway station thing late at night. (Apart from that, the last train to my local station is at about 9pm!).

Talking about going to the theatre, the last time the good lady and I went, to see Les Mis, she had her purse stolen on the tube on the way home ! That's another reason we don't like using public transport.
