Hi all I am asking for a friend who has three cats, why one of hers (a young female) goes completely off her rocker when my friend removes her trainers!!! Bizzare I know  !!   The cat tries to get her head into the trainer, obviously enjoying the smell? !!! Then rolls around the floor purring in delight. She play fights with the trainer like she does her feline housemates (who thankfully never display this wierd behaviour) then she is happy. What on earth could it be with an old , might I add well worn  trainer that sends this cat into raptures?

It sounds like the way cats behave when they smell catnip! There must be  some unusual culture growth going on in those trainers!! Must look really cute though!!

linda pinda    you are a darling !!! there is something like that yes,but what? And why don't her other cats do it?  My friend asked me to post this poser and I could not help laughing! The cat is apparently in raptures, sometimes cannot wait for the trainers to come off!!   Thanks for your reply.
hi my brothers 9 year old female cat does the same when i remove any item of footwear. she rubs her face against my shoes and rolls about purring.

thanks fishbait    it is sounding like it's crazy female cats!!!
Well my friends neutered tom (3 y.o.) does it to my boots and shoes. He doesn't do it to hers.. but mine are leather. Hers are man-made material. And that's the only connection we have come up with so far.

thanks Fern57     I guess that just blew my female cat theory away then !!! I assume my friends' trainers are leather but I do not know for sure. She knows what catnip is and how cats go mad for it but her cat prefers the trainers!!
One of my male cats behaves that same way - loves shoes, boots and slippers and loves to sleep with his head in one.

thanks  goldfish    this behavoiur is not so rare as I thought going by the replies I have had. It will please my friend who thought she had the only trainer-mad cat !!!
My old female cat used to go mad for my arm pits after a hard day at work.  It used to go all wide eyed and frisky.
