New York 7-10 holiday, can anyone recommend a good hotel

I am hoping to go to New York for 7-10 days next year between July-September with my mum who is 77, can anyone recommend a good hotel which is handy for going on a city tour by coach and for booking a tour to and from Niagara Falls.
Is anyone can help me I would be very grateful.

Niagara is quite a long haul unless you fly - is your mum okay with that? Otherwise you can expect to spend 2-3 days doing it.

Are you really sure that you want to book a tour from New York City to Niagara Falls? It's a 400 mile trip (about the same as London to Edinburgh), taking most of a day to get there by road. You'd need to find a trip which included overnight accommodation, with the first day being spent almost entirely travelling and then (after a brief visit to the Falls) another day travelling back.
