anne, -- If something is near its sell-by date its clearly marked on your delivery note AND the driver before you unpack your goods tells you about it. It also is packed in a different colour bag so you can pick it out to examine it. If you decide not to have it give it back to the driver, he will pump it into the electronic machine he holds as a refund and the cost of this itam will be refunded in hours.
They do NOT try to sneek out of date stuff into your shopping (it is against health and safety rules) and if that was so the newspapers would have a field day. The supermarkets would have their socks sued off.
So do not believe that rumour.

Its also easy to say "Go shopping early in the morning" but it doesn't matter what time of day it is when one has a problem walking far, so I save you the trouble of dodging my mobility scooter in the packed aisles. For people like me On-Line shopping is a godsend.
