Parking ticket....

I got a parking ticket today :-(

Took my Nan to see my Grandad who lives in a mainly permit holders area. Couldn't find a parking space close to his house (she's 80 and can't walk far) so parked in a permit holder bay while I took her into the house. Went back to move the car and it had a ticket.

Do you think it could be appealed? He use to have a permit but didn't renew it...

Tell them you were unloading, don't mention your Nan say you were unloading something heavy. Under parking law you are entitled to 20 minutes loading or unloading time.

I only deal with vans and loads so I don't know how people fit into this equation but the loading advice is 100% accurate not an opinion.

I think people should always challenge parking tickets, as you have nothing to lose by doing so.

I thought because my Grandad lives there, and that I can prove, it would seem reasonable to park while helping My Nan in the house. It took me 10 minutes to get her in the house and back to the car.

We get loads of parking tickets at work. Always appeal them, even if you were in the wrong. Sometimes you get let off, sometimes you don't, sometimes we never hear anything more about them. It's always worth a try.

appeal it, you have nothign to lose and get your grandad's permit renewed whilst your at it!

Definitely appeal - nothing to lose.

If they enforce it, then you have to pay up and smile, but you a,ways gain a little time, and the possibility of getting off without.

As others have said its worth a go. Does the Council sell visitor permits or vouchers that you can use when visiting in future?

Thanks Sara....I'll try and sort out a visitors permit as well. His street is one of those that has diagonal parking spaces so we can't even double park while we get her into the house.
