Bug expert please

For the last couple of weeks on 2 occassions I've found what looked like small brown apple seeds under the bedclothes. Also found a couple on the living room carpet. They are solid and about 1/8 - 1/4 inch long. The local Environmental health couldn't make out what they were and though they were some kind of seed, which doesn't explain how they got in bed or on the carpet. Also found one in an old wooden stool which I've now dumped. Also keep finding small, hard crystal specks in bed. Any help would be appreciated.

Any chance they could be carpet bugs?The name is off putting but I found them on a shelf once.Apparently anywhere that shoes can go,so can they.Ant powder and vigorous vacuming,or even talc.Sprinkle and leave overnight,then hoover up.Worked for me so may be worth trying!
