last weekend i went to braemar and had a great time,it's beautiful up there though its just a quiet sleepy village good for a relaxing weekend,it was very cold and had some snow.we stayed in a lovely old hotel(the only one i think)b.b.&em.coach travel, free bottle of wine all for £63.it was magic.i came back with a right heavy cold though.
We spent Xmas there in 1979, absolutely gorgeous, and the locals came in to the little pub at the side of the hotel, smashing fun, I loved it! Isn't there a little river right next to it? Also the Mountain Rescue team were there and they took us to Glen Shea (I think it was) for the skiiing. But the hotel closed for xmas and they said we could stay on with a skeleton staff or go to their sister hotel in Symington near Edinburgh which we did and also delightful.
glenshee was getting ready to open as they had a bit of snow, there is a river running practically in the grounds of the hotel,my view was overlooking a huge mountain covered in snow,i just sat there for ages thinking ,it was so nice and would definately go back, especially at that price
You must have gone through my town to get there Kate -we're the last town en route to Braemar.Lovely place and the hotel youre talking about is beautiful.Did you get up to Crathie? Did you see Balmoral Castle? Great value -glad you enjoyed yourself:)
