I had wondered about the Thames for 1.
I also thought of Crane for 3 but that does not seem to be a diving bird. Not sure if Erne is either.
Have got Tees as the answer for 'Friendly banter'.

Unfortunately they do not give number of letters for the answers.

There is a river Erne in Ireland and erne is a diving bird

I like Mississippi as Old Man River, rather than Old Father Thames, unless all answers have to be UK rivers.
