Rabbit sweet smelling urine

I think my rabbit may be diabetic, she is drinking a lot, the shed is smelling of a sweet smell and she is wet around her private parts. I have changed her diet and stopped her carrots but with little success. She is quite old and am wondering whether it would be kinder to put her to sleep as she spends a lot of time in her little tray, mainly because I think she feels she want to wee all the time.

Anyone had a similiar experience. Thanks

why not give your vet a ring and ask his/her advice - seems a shame to not give bunny a proper chance.
eep your bunny clean and dry...you don't want flystrike to complicate matters.
She may have something as simple as a urinary tract infection.

Sounds like she has urine scalding too, and you may need to wash her in a mild shampoo and put on some nappy rash cream, also change the litter in the tray to one that is more absorbing or change it more frequently.

Make sure the shed is well insulated and she is kept warm in the cold winter too.

Thanks for your answers all, what I neglected to tell you is that she has had this condition for over a year now, it is not just simply a urinary condition, because her increase of water consumption has gone up to a bowl a day. Also she is never dry and is now getting a bit messy at times. I clean her off every day and try to keep her diet fairly restricted, carrots are a no, no, mainly because they are sweet and make her condition worse. Has been on baytril in the past but has never worked. She spends a lot of time in her litter tray now so I think she is a bit uncomfortable. Will have to see what the vet says on Monday.
Aww - let us know, poor bunny. Does the vet realise how long she's been having trouble? - not always easy if like ours, the vets keep changing.
