i purchased a new car, and swaped it with my old car on my existing insurance policy. 5 days later i checked over my insurance policy, only to find that my insurance company had cancelled MY NEIGHBOURS existing insurance policy instead of mine, and insured HER to drive my new car instead of ME!! As a result we have both been driving around for the last 5 days with NO INSURANCE!!!! Just wondered where we stand,, are we entitled to compensation at all?
seriously not a wynd up!!! Same sirname, insurance company and postcode! the problem has now been sorted, but my neighbour had no idea till she got the phonecall from the insurance company this morning!
You would only be entitled to compensation if - due to a mistake by the insurance company someone was injured or property damaged.
What compensation do you think you are entitled to ?
It's extraordinary the coincidence then, but a bit worrying - I'd check your house insurance and other stuff if I were you LOL! - It must be very confusing for your postman!
didn't think about compensation until the insurance company knocked £150 off my insurance quote, and gave my neighbour a free service and MOT, and free protected no claims bonus! It's just unusual for a company to voluntarily give compensation!!! I'm happy with the outcome, and thankfully no-one was hurt as a result of the mistake, was just curious, and a bit suspicious, that's all.
So and your neighbour you have been 'compensated' then.
This was an administrative error that has not caused a financial loss to you or your neighbour and has been resolved as the insurance company recognised their error and therefore reducing your premium and paying for a service and MOT for your neighbour.
What they have given is already very generous so I'm surpised you would want more!
