Help! I made Delia's traditional mincemeat tonight. You are meant to put all the ingredients in a bowl, leave to mingle overnight and then cook in a very low oven for 3 hours. The brandy is meant to be added when the mixture is cool.

Me and the FH were in the kitchen, drinking and chatting and this was kind of a joint effort. We accidentally added the brandy before we stick the stuff in the oven. Will it be OK?

It should taste the same but you'll have lost the alcohol content!

I've never cooked my mincemeat before using. I just leave it in the fridge in a covered container...and stir every few days.

Oh well...just add more brandy after it's been cooked.
it'll be fine Barmaid, as you said, you can add more brandy afterwards!.....It should be even more yummy!....making my Homemade Irish Cream Liquer tonight in readiness for Christmas,...........it's best after keeping for about a month, hope we can keep it that long, never happened in latter years!.........Oh well. can always make a second batch!............lol...........
