On news 24 this morning I'm sure I heard that the synod is the only place other than parliament where laws are made, this horrified me slightly before I though, well there must be limits or we'd all be going to church on Sundays by law. So exactly what laws can they enact?
"Krom' but god doesn't have to be all good like it says,...... as i have said, maybe life is not the point, maybe death is the point"
But morality has to be independent of God, and God has to be good, surely? Otherwise it undermines the whole idea of worshiping him. Is the possibility of an evil God really one that most theists think of when they're describing him?
Krom' it all depends on your perception of god, good & evil are just human perception.
a human goes out rips an others throat out then eats him, would be called evil, when a lion, tiger etc does it, is that evil?
i don't know sqad i just found it funny after you said "what really would convince me is to see a stone statue, burst into a smile instead of crying" and thought you would appreciate it.
Billions and billions of sperm don't fertilize anything
Millions of eggs don't fertilize
Millions of fertilized eggs don't establish in the womb properly
Millions of embryos abort
The few of us who make it through to life are a very small and privileged minority <<<
there is your miracle, god picked you out of all them little squidgy things :)
I think it's a miracle that with all this talk of God you lot haven't have that self-elected AB policeman Dtcrosswordfan complaining - but maybe it's just me who isn't his 'cup of tea'. ;o)
//maybe life is not the point, maybe death is the point //
Death is precisely the point. Believers spend their lives thinking about what's going to happen to them after death. Death is at the heart of religion.
