Hello

I've been asked to email my cv for a job but that it must be in a pdf format (!) I have a word cv but also a cv via an internet link on The Spotlight (am an actor).

I've really no idea how to convert from a) word to pdf nor b) how I convert my web-based cv to pdf.

Two qs - is it possible and is it complicated?!

Many thanks

I'm sure there are lots of tools available to do this, but the thing I use is OpenOffice.

It's a completely free replacement for Microsoft Office, works pretty much just as well, and the Writer program (like Microsoft Word) has a simple way of saving as a .pdf.
or use something like http://www.primopdf.com/ (there are others - just google "free pdf") which gives you the option of "printing" (ie creating) to pdf.
Hi Helen, this answer might sound strange .. and possibly won't work on a PC (though it does on most Macs). It might depend on what version of of Word you have.

Open your Document in Word, then choose Print. When the Printer window comes up, it might have an drop-down option called 'PDF' (normally on the bottom left of the window??). Click on that option and then choose 'Save as PDF' etc and away you go ...

I'm not sure about doing this from the web, but I guess you could try opening your web page, then trying to print it, then choose PDF etc etc ....

Which program did you use to produce your web page?

Hope this helps? Sorry if it's a load of p00p!

How bizarre. I take it this is some sort of computer-related job you're going for? I can't imagine why anyone would ask you to provide a CV in pdf format, except as a test to see whether you could do it - and if you have to ask, maybe you're not the sort of person they're looking for. Good luck, though.

Thanks everyone!

No, it's not a computer related job!

As I said, I'm an actor; the job is facilitating drama-based workshops...

I didn't write the web page of my cv; I subscibe to have it listed - here: http://www.spotlightcd.com/interactive/cv/1/f6 6046.html.

I can only assume the company is terrified of unsafe attachments or something...

Thanks for the various tips re: PDF.
