Hi everyone, we have a black persian called Oscar and whenever you stroke him, or tickle his rump he has to lick something. This is either the person stroking him, any close by object or even mid air licking. He is quite a messy cat, not like his short hair brother, and I have to groom and wipe him very regularly, he is frontlined every 2 months and is an indoor cat.

We are not that concerned about this as he is a very happy little boy, we were just wondering why he did this.

Thank you for any answers

They are strange little creatures. Mine suckles my clothes. No one else, just me. He also gives people the evil eye if they sit in my seat. He went with my son on his paper round this morning. The whole way...

Ha ha, they sure are very strange, your answer made me really laugh, thank you
Mine falls over onto his side if you rub his neck. Just collapses sideways with a thud and a loud purr.

Ha ha, yep, I think we may have to put his licking down to one of those crazy things cats do
I like it when they fall off something and then start licking themselves to deflect your attention from the fall.

⬅⬅⬅ Frankie my little avatar gets his inhaler twice a day. If I just put the mask on him and hold him he breathes shallowly but if I rub his spine or his rump the little gauge that shows his breathing rate shoots up into overdrive. Typical male!
