But I presume that Thanksgiving parties here are all taking place today (because we were all at work on Thursday).

Thanksgiving is more important as a FAMILY holiday. It's when most will travel far and wide to be with relatives. The day after Thanksgiving-known as 'black Friday' to some,is the start of the Christmas shopping period...and is the day to stay away from the malls.

at least us yanks don't start shopping in August.......
