I have just finished a litre and a half bottle of cheap hock from the supermarket, I can't last much longer, so it's off to bed and I'll leave you with the GK song (a show which I never watch)

Ha, they were vaguely less interested than another major charity who told me to take it to the local vets which I couldn't due to a) too much booze and b) lack of funds). Had to call them back after 2 1/2 hours and say do you want me to wring its Fluffing neck or let it die? Then they called and said " we might get out to you in the morning". Then they asked for a donation.
They were sods when I lost ASBO for several weeks. Were not in the least bit interested in a cat that had disappeared and were more interested in getting my bank details. Funnily enough when he appeared it was the local cat rescue home who got a sizeable cash and food donation together with my business card should they ever need help.........
If it's still alive in the morning I'll find somewhere to take it. At worst I'll take it to dad's and he'll know what to do.
