Just been on parenting and all these people have to now buy cards on .....bloody "Grandparents Day".

Surely these bloody shops should stop NOW , at the sort of cards they are selling.

I was in Chicago last year for Valentines day and the card shops there were full of cards saying to my mom for valentines day to my dad, son, daughter, friend, teacher, even BOSS ~ and there was me thinking Valentines Day was just for lovers!!

I agree with you Dove - we know our Grandchildren love us & don't need 'hypey' Grandparent cards to prove it!

In the US for a long time, valentines day has been about mor than lovers. We were there 10 years ago and then it was the custom for primary school kids (in NJ at least which is where we lived) to make and decorate valentines boxes and to give a card to each schoolchild in their class. Must admit that I found it odd then!

You have answered your question within your own question.  They won't stop selling the cards, because they are selling the cards.

Supply & demand.  Someone out there is wandering the cardshops and tracing their finger along the code chart to buy some tat for �2.99, or �5.99 if it is ""handmade"" so why shouldn't they carry on supplying it...?
