What happens if your train is cancelled.

I am going to York on Friday with two friends for a Christmas shopping trip. Our seats are booked on the train through RailEasy, cheap day returns which means we have to travel on the trains stated on our tickets. My question is, with all the disruption to services what happens if our train is cancelled. Are we allowed to travel on another train run by the same or another rail company?

I have looked at the terms and conditions but can't decide if this is the case.

we have no buses, no planes, no trains, no postal service and no refuse collections..

mum has been quoted £3,000 for a new boiler

If the train is cancelled go to the ticket office and they should reissue the tickets for the next available train happened to me on a n advance booking with virgin....I complained as well and got some vouchers too

It's more or less a case of playing it by ear.

The train companies are usually sympathetic to problems which aree beyond reasonable control of themselves and / or their passengers, so in the interest of goodwill (and lord knows they need it!) they will usually accomodate you on another train if yours is cancelled.

If they make a fuss, simply refuse to be browbeaten. be firm, stand your ground, and offer your name and address to the train mamager and tell him to send a bill for your fare.

Because train managers live a life of receiving abuse for no extra pay or thought, they usually decide not to argue with a reasonable point of view, and will simply walk away.

Either of those two scenarios is going to get you home again.

I booked with Raileasy last year to go to Thisrk.There was a landslide between Edinburgh and Newcastle so I contacted them and they just asked me to return the tickets for a refund if the trains still werent running.Luckily the day i was due to travel they were working on the landlslide and although we were hel up for a wee while we got through -they were also bussing people around the obstruction (a few days earlier) so i think they are a reasonable company to deal with.
