If someone has oestrogen responsive breast cancer and a cell breaks away to settle in another part of the body, would the secondary cancer still be oestrogen responsive?
headwreck.....there is no definitive answer to your question as it depends on how early it is detected, what type of cancer it is and where the primary (initial cancer) is situated.
237SJ......a secondary (metastasis) invariably takes on all the characteristics of the primary (initial growth)..........so much so that give a Pathologist a microscope slide of the secondary and he will tell you where the primary is likely to be.
Thank you sqad (and the prof) :-)
The reason I asked is because my Mum is on Arimidex and (touch wood) although her breast cancer hasn`t shown itself anywhere else, at least with the drug she has some line of defence if it does.
Can I ask you one on Sport?
society, bearing in mind that I've lectured on this very subject at medical school are you telling me that I know zilch?
Why do you think that only a "quack" as you put it should be familiar with this subject?
