Sandy, I can personally recommend a brand called Khombu boots and in particular a style called Bungee
They have soles with a good grip, thermal insoles and are fully fur lined. They are made from leather, waterproof and guaranteed to minus 20 degrees
I'm not an older lady (well, not in my head although the mirror may disagree) but these boots are a must for winter and are suitable for all ages

I would hate someone to buy footwear for me, I think its something very personal i.e. style, size, colour etc.
