Keeping the outside lane on the Motorways clear.
As HGV driver's will know & understand, the motorway usually comes to a halt by the outside lane getting snowed up & the traffic merging into the middle, you obviously have 2 lanes of a 3 lane Motorway left, why the hell don't the authorities allow HGVs to drive in the outside lane this in-turn would keep the traffic in full flow, with caution

Trust me I have espically when driving one! the main reason for the inside /middle lane is safety, it allows drivers if necessary to make an immediate desicion to pull to the left, also a HGV hitting a sudden "snow blow" is just not thinkable! I have been driving HGV's for 15 years and seen some really bad things, I would never, even if allowed drive in the 3rd lane!
Just add another 20years to your HGV experience TWR and you will have caught me up !
I was a driving instructor and examiner on all HGV's for 15 years as well as driving all classes of HGV.
I was on the A40 dual carriageway when the outside lane was blocked by about 2 foot of snow and all the other vehicles, including HGV's were stationary, being in a Bedford RL I put it in 4 wheel drive and slowly drove for 2 miles in the outside blocked lane. to the next roundabout.

Some power there toureman, but I will still stand by what I have said, I do understand the issue of slush flying into the opp side, but at least it will keep the traffic moving, does it make you think! if the hauliers tried to get compo for loss of earnings from the M.O.T they would get their act together? this is 2 years on the trot now.
