If Tesco can deliver why can't the binmen come?
34 Answers
My lovely Tesco delivery man has just brought my groceries. I live on a slight hill and it is somewhat icy. Yesterday it was snowy but not icy and the dustmen didn't arrive; ditto the recycling chappies today. The main roads are clear. If Tesco can manage it why can't our councils?

If the council went out and blew half their budget on snowploughs, chains for tyres etc, everyone would be up in arms at the waste of money. We don't get conditions like this very often so it's not really justified expenditure - and has nothing to do with pension funds! I think they're doing bl00dy well in difficult circumstances. They can't possibly be expected to keep every lane and cul-de-sac clear - there aren't enough hours in the day. If people are that bothered then they are perfectly capable of picking up a shovel and getting stuck in themselves.
