My boyfriend was flashed by a speed camera in a 30mph zone doing 58mph, does anybody know what the fine will be? & how many points will be taken off?

Thank you Gef, finally somebody who understands why I put this question on here in the first place, I felt the need to type in capitals after the barrage of abuse I got from certain people, I have never known my comments to be misconstrued in such a way before. I myself have never been done for speeding and I never (like everybody else who has posted a reply) speed myself. Thank you for so many nasty replies about me being locked up in jail, I really appreciated your views!! I do believe my boyfriend deserves to be fined & I don't condone him in anyway (you will have read my comments properly) and as you've been dying to know, he got his fine through today, 60.00 + 3 points on his licence, some people's knowledge seems to be way off the mark & makes me think they are not qualified to give answers & advice on this website, it has proved to me how unconstructive & uninteresting some peoples comments & lives can be.
This could be an urban legend but it could also be worth checking out if you get done by a speed camera. Shanley - your boyfriend will have received a form asking him to confirm who was driving the car. He is legally obliged to provide this information, however he is not legally obliged to sign the form. The unsigned form cannot then be used as evidence in court. Apparently it's a loophole the police are aware of and they may come back and ask you to sign the form but you don't have to. More info here: http://www.thesmartclub.co.uk/mboardnew.html

Ive heard about it, but I think the police have cottoned onto that fact now. Anyway, its a fair cop as they say, he was speeding so he should pay his fine.
Shanley - sorry to keep this thread going but I'm curious - did any of the paperwork your boyfriend recieved mention the speed he was caught at or was the 58mph his/your estimate?

As I said earlier, he got 3 points on his licence & an 60 fine, which is the minimum as far as I know, but not ever been penalised myself, I have no idea of the minimum.
